The Weeknd reacts to Taylor Swift joining the 100 million Spotify fans club – Billboard

The Weeknd is welcoming Taylor Swift to a club that was once so exclusive that she was the only member. Following the news that the “anti-hero” pop star has become the only other artist to reach 100 million listeners on Spotify, statue The creator posted a sweet message of congratulations on Instagram, which included an old photo of the couple performing together on Swift’s 1989 Tour.

Re-sharing a news post about Swift’s accomplishment to his Story, The Weeknd left a congratulatory emoji to show how strong he and his fellow record-breakers are. The news post also included an adorable photo from 2015, in which the 33-year-old singer hugged him tightly during the 1989 World Tour, where she brought him as a surprise guest to perform her hit “Can’t” Was Feel my face.”

Swift hit 100 million monthly Spotify fans earlier this week. The occasion crowned her as the first female artist to do so, and the second artist in general after The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye.

Tesfaye crossed the previously unknown 100 million mark for the first time in February, becoming the first artist in Spotify history to hit this milestone. At the time, Swift had 80.3 million monthly listeners, compared to Miley Cyrus’s 82.5 million and Drake’s 68.6 million.

At the time of publication, Tesfaye had 109.6 million monthly listeners on the platform, according to Spotify page.

The “Blinding Lights” musician is currently touring. In September, he will bring his After Hours Till Dawn Tour to Foro Sol in Mexico City, following Swift’s Eraze Tour Trail; Over the weekend, he completed a four-night run at the venue with opener Sabrina Carpenter.

“After years of wanting to play Mexico City, getting the chance to play 4 of the most unforgettable shows for the most beautiful and generous fans,” Swift said later, sharing photos of her performance on Instagram. “Feeling so grateful for the memories we’re making together on this tour… Te Amo.”
