A key Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith scene occurred during Attack of the Clones

According to “The Making of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith” by JW Rinzler, the shooting of this scene was considered a top-secret operation. It was a “partial” sequence, meaning certain elements would be added somewhere down the line. What most people didn’t know was that the entire scene wouldn’t be seen for another five years.

The set was built near Chot El Jerid Salt Lake. According to Rinzler, the location was listed as “Tatooine Homestead (Moisture Farm),” which should sound very familiar to “Star Wars” fans. A prop was also involved, a “newborn baby doll” dubbed “AN Other”. Up-and-coming actor Joel Edgerton, who played Wayne Lars in “Attack of the Clones,” was on hand, as was Ewan McGregor’s body double Breeden Phillip.

Yes, they were shooting to hand off baby Luke to Uncle Wayne, who would raise the young Jedi as his own until he became a freak in the first act of “Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope.”

According to Rinzler, the scene is only one-eighth of a page of script (indeed, it’s a blink-and-miss-it moment in “Revenge of the Sith”), so it was smart and incredibly profitable for Lucas to get the scene before flying out of Tunisia.
